System Board Switches for Resetting Forgotten or Unknown Passwords

P100t, P75t, P90t DIP switch is located next to Memory banks. - Set switch No. 3 to ON position.
- Start and down computer.
- Reset switch to OFF.

Jumper bank located toward front of System board, marked A, B, C, D. - In set A, jump pins 2-3.
- Start and down computer.
- Replace jumper to pins 1-2.
XPS D266,
XPS T550
Single jumper is located at the front of the System board, forward of the expansion slots. NOTE: This procedure returns all settings to defaults. Check all settings in advance. You may need to reset System Processor Speed.
- Set jumper to pins 2-3, Start computer. It will boot directly into maintenance screen of system setup program.
- Highlight CLEAR ALL PASSWORDS, Press ENTER, Select YES.
- Exit, Down computer, Reset jumper to pins 1-2.
XPS P166c MT Jumper bank is located at the edge of the System board, adjacent to the CPU. - Set jumper F (PSWD) to pins 2-3.
- Start computer to erase password, down computer.
- Reset jumper to pins 1-2.
4100 Single jumper is located forward of PCI slots. - Jump pins 2-3.
- Start and down computer.
- Reset jumper to pins 1-2.

Dell - OptiPlex
GX1p, GX200 System board Jumper bank located toward front, near Riser Board connector.
Topmost jumper should be marked PSWD.
- Remove PSWD jumper.
- Start and down computer.
- Replace jumper.
- Restart computer, in BIOS Setup set CHASSIS INTRUSION to ENABLED.
GX100, GX110 Jumper is located near front of System board, immediately above Riser board connector. - Remove jumper plug.
- Start computer to erase passwords, down computer.
- Replace jumper.
- Restart computer, in BIOS Setup set CHASSIS INTRUSION to ENABLED.
GXM Jumper bank is located at the edge of the System board, adjacent to the CPU, Second jumper from to is marked PSWD.
XL 575 Jumper bank is located between Memory banks and Riser 2 slot. Jumper is marked PSWD.
Dell - Notebooks
Inspiron and Latitude:
All Models
No information on resetting forgotten passwords is given for these models. Dell recommends calling Tech Support. Proof of identity will be required.

Poweredge 4400, 6300 Jumper bank is located on right rear corner of System board. - Remove jumper plug.
-Start computer to erase passwords, down computer.
- Replace jumper.

E-3200 Single jumper is located near center of System board. It is usually colored blue. - Move jumper to pins 2-3.
- Start and down computer.
- Reset jumper to pins 1-2.
E-3400 Single jumper located toward the rear of System board, forward of parallel port.
E-3600 Jumper located near front panel harness and USB connectors.
E-4200 Single jumper, located between PCI slots and CMOS battery.
Gateway - Solo Notebooks
All models No Information given. Gateway states: The password feature is very secure, with no easy way to recover a forgotten password. You must return your computer for repair. Call Client Care for instructions.
Hewlett-Packard - Vectra
All models Dip switch bank located near top side of System board. - Set switch no. 3 to ON.
- Start and down computer.
- Reset switch to OFF.
