The Electronic Arts computer lab is equipped with Mac G5s, iMacs, and an extensive collection of peripherals, such as cameras, projectors, scanners, large format printers, micro-controllers, sensors, sound recorders, M-BOXes, monitors, midi controllers, and other electronic devices. Additional facilities on campus include the department’s wood shop, student galleries, Engineering’s ESC pods, and the ARTS Lab, which houses a motion-capture system, green-screen environment, and an immersive dome.

The Electronic Arts area is dedicated to the education of students, training them as electronic/digital media artists that employ new and emerging technologies; the program encourages experimentation with new ideas, forms and models for realizing and presenting innovative artwork. The curriculum combines history, theory and practice in electronic arts/digital media, and it nurtures interdisciplinary investigation and learning. Electronic Arts faculty and students are actively involved with the Arts, Research, Technology and Science Laboratory [ARTS Lab], a dynamic university-wide center for interdisciplinary research and education.

Course offerings cover a spectrum of emerging technologies, including but not limited to time-based applications, physical computing, sound art, Internet art, computer generated imagery, and immersive media.
