1/   Data beginning in January 1994 are not directly comparable with
     data for earlier periods because of a major redesign of the 
     household survey questionnaire.

Note:  Caution should be used when comparing the 1996 labor force series 
with other years.  The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has indicated 
that revisions to the 1996 state labor force series were larger than can 
be attributed to sampling variability alone.  Comparisons of 1996 data with 
other years may not be statistically meaningful.
