| First & Second Line Classification The first and second line classification system for Southwest architecture is designed to create a site-based collection of images. Slide images of a site are organized and positioned together in one place. Within each site, structures are arranged chronologically or by cultural sequence (time, phase or branch divisions). Specific structure types within a particular site are grouped together. Prehistoric The first line number of Prehistoric Southwest architecture classification defines specific Native American Southwest prehistoric cultures. The second line number defines general and specific site names plus time, phase or branch division (cultural sequence). Pueblo and cliff dwelling site names are cuttered sites and are not structures defined as third line numbers. This enables specific structure types of prehistoric sites to be defined and kept together within each site (ie:kivas at Pueblo Bonito). HistoricThe first line number of Historic Southwest architecture classification defines time period (historic). The second line number defines culture plus specific site name. Notes:
