 May 13-31, 2005

Ch St 351/571 Chicanos Abroad / Camino Real Expedition (Restricted) Spring Inter-session (May 13-31, 2005)  Lamadrid, E.

El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro is New Mexico's link to the centers of civilization to the south.  In 1598, Spanish Mexican settlers came north into the upper Río Grande Valley on routes used for centuries by indigenous people.  Led by expert guides from Old and New Mexico, this inter-session expedition will venture as far south as Chihuahua, Parral, Durango, Sombrerete, and Zacatecas in search of New Mexico's history and cultural roots.  (Taken in conjunction with SPAN 301.570 Camino Real).          TW Span 301.570
