The University of New Mexico Department of Civil Engineering offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in construction: • B.S. in Construction Engineering • B.S. in Construction Management • M.S. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management emphasis) • Masters in Construction Management • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management emphasis) UNM is unique in having construction engineering, construction management, and civil engineering degree programs in the same department, and our students benefit from the synergy and cooperation that result.

Student Opportunities

UNM offers comprehensive financial aid packages, a large number of scholarships and grants as well as a variety of research and internship opportunities. Our students compete in a national steel bridge competition and a regional construction management contest. A student chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) helps students network with construction professionals around the city and state.

Research
UNM faculty conduct a wide range of research in construction engineering and management.
Opportunities exist for both graduate and undergraduate students to work closely with faculty members on research projects.
Current research topics include:

• Sustainable design and construction
• Integrating design and construction in a fast-track environment
• Leadership skill development in the construction industry
• Safety programs for small contractors
• Pavement management
