Environmental Lab »

The Environmental Engineering laboratories in the new CE building will have almost 4,000 ft2 of space and occupy most of the second floor of the north wing of the building. The labs will be divided up into 3 large labs for teaching and experimentation with new treatment processes, and several smaller labs for experiments requiring special conditions and sensitive analytical equipment. In addition to the dedicated environmental engineering labs, three adjacent environmental microbiology laboratories will be shared with the Center for Biomedical Engineering to facilitate collaboration between researchers in CE and this center. A unique feature of the building is a penetration in the stem wall in the basement hydraulics lab to allow access to the main storm and wastewater sewers that pass just north of the building. This will enable CE researchers to conduct pilot testing of innovative treatment processes in a controlled environment.
