Fluid Mechanics Lab »
The Hydraulics Laboratory and Fluids Mechanics Laboratory are two separate facilities belonging to the Civil Engineering Department. The Hydraulics laboratory is used extensively for research on Albuquerque’s flood-control projects (supported by AMAFCA). Since 1999 it has been equipped with state of the art pumps, a new flume, and instrumentation for research projects funded by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission to enhance the safety of Nuclear Reactors. The Fluid Mechanics laboratory is used primarily for undergraduate teaching and to complement the resources of the Hydraulics laboratory. Both the laboratories are used by undergraduate and graduate students involved in research projects with the department’s faculty.
