PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS »

All our undergraduate students make use of the diverse part-time job opportunities in Albuquerque related to their careers while still in school.  100% are employed at the time of graduation.  The graduate program in Civil Engineering is nationally ranked.  UNM is the only institution in New Mexico rated “Research Intensive Very High” by the Carnegie Institute.

Degrees
UNM Civil Engineering is the only institution in the country that offers courses leading to three different undergraduate degrees and also maintains a nationally recognized research program for graduate students.

People
Our 18 full-time faculty have PhDs from top institutions worldwide; all of them hold professional licenses.  Five full-time staff members provide support services to the faculty and students.

Research and Laboratories
Civil Engineering has extensive laboratory facilities, and the new $42M building will provide state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment when completed in 2008.  Many UNM students use the world-class facilities in the three national laboratories – Sandia, Los Alamos, and Air Force – which are in close proximity.

Current Students
Students participate in a wide spectrum of professional and collegial activities through many student organizations.  Class sizes in Civil Engineering are small:  generally 20-30 in sophomore courses and 10-20 in junior, senior, and graduate courses.
