ADVANCED PLACEMENT AND TRANSFER CREDITS »

Advanced Placement:

The Department of Civil Engineering encourages you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to earn college credit prior to enrolling.

Students who take advanced placement courses in high school through the CEEB Advanced Placement Program and earn a score of three or higher on the exam may be eligible for college credit. Score reports should be sent from the College Board directly to the UNM Office of Admissions. Placement and credit is awarded by individual departments.

Transfer Courses:

UNM evaluates courses from other colleges and universities that are regionally accredited or are candidates for regional accreditation.  Transfer students receive full credit for course work completed with a minimum grade of “C,” provided the classes are similar or equivalent to courses offered at UNM.  (Transferable courses with grades of “D” from New Mexico state institutions are accepted.)

Once the UNM Admissions Office has evaluated all transfer credits, it is then up to each department to determine if those credits and courses can be applied to the degree programs in that department.

UNM has developed TRANSFER GUIDES listing individual course equivalencies for New Mexico two-year institutions.

If you have questions about the transfer of a particular civil or construction course, you may contact Dr. Jerome Hall, Director of Undergraduate Programs, jerome@unm.edu, 277-1418.
