University Spring Commencement    (May 17, 2008)

Please note that the graduates list is determined by the College of Arts & Sciences - Advisement Department. You can contact your advisor by phone (277-4621) or email.

As a degree candidate, you should receive an invitation to participate in early April. Included are the following:

  • a cap and gown order form,
  • an announcement order form,
  • diploma information, and
  • the Participation Form with its instructions.

If you do not receive your notification by mid-April, please contact the Office of the Secretary at 277-4664.

C&J Spring Convocation    (May 16, 2008)
First, make sure you have followed all requirements for UNM's Commencement (even if you are not attending it and attending only C&J's). You must have filled out the Spring Commencement Participation Form and Instruction. Click here to do it. Make sure you include C&J's convocation if you are joining us.

Secondly, you need to come by the C&J office and review our list of students who are graduating this spring and make sure your name is present and correct. Also, make sure that all your paperwork is in order.

The Communication and Journalism Department's Spring convocation will be on Friday, May 16, 2008. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5 p.m. (lasting about one hour) in Woodward Hall 101 (the main auditorium). All students completing their degree requirements by the end of this spring semester, or last fall semester, or missing six credit hours to be completed this summer semester, can participate. Please be at Woodward Hall by 4:30 in cap and gown.

The ceremony, which usually lasts about one hour, will be followed by a reception on the south side of the building.

Close and extended family members as well as friends are welcome (up to five total guests per graduate). Cameras and video cameras are recommended. The department will arrange to tape the ceremony, and the Graduation Ceremony 2005 Video will be available for purchase for $15. You can fill out the Order Form for another lasting memory of your achievement.

To Our Graduating Students:
If you plan on attending the C&J Spring ceremony, please drop by the office and let the front office staff know, or e-mail us at On the day of the ceremony, please come early (around 4:30 p.m.), so we can begin lining everyone up.
