Application for Degree and Graduation It is required that you apply for your degree and graduation one semester before your intended graduation date, and it is highly recommended that you apply at least one year before graduation so that you can plan your last two semesters. Graduation from UNM is not automatic. You must state your intention to graduate by completing the application for the degree. No one likes last-minute surprises, so it is better to plan ahead. Although advisement is not mandatory (except for Music Education majors) in the College of Fine Arts, it is recommended that you meet with the Fine Arts advisor or faculty advisors at least once each year, or every semester if needed, to be sure that you are on track to graduate. You can obtain an application for degree at the Fine Arts Advisement Center, or print a copy from the .pdf file on-line. (Down load Acrobat Reader if you do not already have it on your computer.) The application must be taken or mailed to the Advisement Center in room 1103 of the Center for the Arts with your signature. On the form, declare your degree, major, optional minor or second major, and your graduation date. Once you have applied to graduate, your date of graduation will be entered on the student information system. A summary of your degree requirements will be prepared and mailed to you. It will include all the credit hours you have completed as of the end of the previous semester and a list of the hours needed to graduate. If you change your date of graduation, you must fill out another application for degree. The date is not changed automatically to the next semester. The deadline to apply for Spring graduation is November 1, and for Summer or Fall graduation, April 1. |
