UNM offers courses in Modern Standard Arabic at the elementary and intermediate levels. Students will learn to listen, speak, read and write standard Arabic, as well as situate the language in its many cultural and historic contexts. Learning the language is a first and vital step in understanding the people who speak it. In our increasingly interconnected world, understanding our neighbors in North Africa and the Middle East is crucial.
