Graduate Student Career Support
|
|
The Office of Graduate Studies- Special Initiatives Office has expanded career services available to all UNM graduate students. Both degree and non-degree students are encouraged to participate in these services.
Tanya Campos, Career Development Facilitator (CDF) from the department of Career Services is the CDF liaison for the Office of Graduate Studies.
|
Career and professional development services available to graduate students/studies include:
- Employment assistance: Post graduate, internships, fellowships; Academic, private, or public sectors
- Resumes or Curriculum Vitas
- Job search strategies and resources
- Professional Writing: Cover letters, letters of intent, personal statements
- Workshops
- Career Fairs (including the Graduate and Professional Fair)
- Career Development and Assessment: While most graduate students have a much clearer path and understanding of career fields and choices than undergraduates, this does not mean that they don’t need career guidance. Many times this guidance is in defining a specific career path or emphasis, reviewing previous professional decisions and re-clarifying values and skills. We offer both formal career assessments, such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Strong Interest Inventory and card sort exercises, as well as one-on-one appointments to sit down and informally talk about career decisions and goals.
