Current Focus:

Coordinate with pertinent campus departments and individuals to expand the recycling facilities at UNM.  More bins, easier visibility, more awareness and promotion of recycling, etc.

Proposal

Recycling Proposal For UNM

  1. 100%Recycled Paper in all departments. (Or Tree-free paper: Vision Paper is an Albuquerque business that supplies Kenaf paper)
  2. Bright Green Recycling Bins (Paper and Plastic) at all Daily Lobo Dispensers
  3. Main Recycling Center ( location yet to be determined) where all other recyclables can be disposed: Electronics, Aluminum, Styrofoam, Batteries, etc.

Campus Greens Recycling Effort

Will consist of making a “Recycle @ UNM” Map, Promoting the new facilities, Educating students about recycling in Albuquerque and promoting increased efficiency with paper and other product use, aiming to decrease waste overall. Also the Campus Greens will work with the City of Albuquerque and State Government on expanding recycling capability throughout the state.

Events:

UNM College Greens will help by offering a recycling location for electronic waste in the SUB at Table 4 November 11 and 12! Bring us your e-waste!

This year America Recycles Day will be held on November 15, 2004. As part
of the day's happenings there will be an electronic waste (e-waste) collection event from 9:00AM-3:00PM in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Carlisle and Menaul.  Bring any old computers, monitors, keyboards, televisions, etc. to the event for environmentally friendly recycling.
