PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Civil Rights
at Work at UNM provides staff with information regarding their rights and responsibilities as they relate to University civil rights policies and managers/supervisors with information regarding their responsibilities in addressing civil rights issues in the workplace.
This workplace-centered course was developed in response to the State of New Mexico's requirement that all managers and supervisors employed by public institutions receive training in civil rights.
In
this course, you will work in small groups to review the
key civil rights issues and policies, discuss the case exercises from
Civil Rights Overview (Web Course), and apply what you have learned to the real world of
managing and/or working at UNM. The class also includes materials for conducting a follow-up
civil rights compliance "audit" in your department.

3 hours
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing
this course, you will be better equipped to comply with the civil rights
laws and UNM policies, act to protect the civil rights of employees, and
prevent civil rights violations in the workplace. You will also learn
about the resources available at UNM to help employees raise civil rights issues and managers/ supervisors
address any civil rights issues that may arise.
WHO SHOULD
ATTEND?
All UNM Managers/Supervisors are required to take this course. UNM Staff are also encouraged to attend to learn about their rights and responsibilities as they pertain to UNM policy.
TEACHING METHODS
Video, case simulation, small and large group discussion.
