BRINGING PUBLIC PERSPECTIVES INTO THE POLICYMAKING PROCESS


 
 

The Institute for Public Policy maintains an expert staff with a broad range of skills and expertise. The Director, Deputy Director and Associate Director oversee all research and coordinate IPP projects. The Administrator is responsible for contracts, budgeting, and operations. The Research Managers conduct research in specific project areas and manage the graduate student analysts, who assist with projects. The Survey Manager runs the IPP's Survey Research Center and is responsible for survey design, hardware maintenance, and the management and training of supervisors and interviewers. In addition, the IPP part-time staff includes selected analysts, who are top graduate students at the University of New Mexico, and graduate and undergraduate interviewers who work at the Survey Research Center
 

Mark Peceny, Interim Director

Mark Peceny (Ph.D., Political Science, Stanford University) is Professor and Chair of the UNM Department of Political Science.

 

Amelia A. Rouse, Deputy Director

Amelia Rouse (Ph.D., Political Science, University of New Mexico) studies education and environmental policies using both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.
 

Amy Sue Goodin, Associate Director of Research

Amy Goodin (M.A. in Geography, University of New Mexico), who manages the IPP's Survey Research Center, has extensive knowledge of public policy emphasizing environmental policy and resource management, as well as hazardous materials regulation and nuclear waste management. Amy brings to IPP an advanced understanding of Geographic Information Systems software, which makes it possible to show geographic patterns in respondents' attitudes and demographics. 
 

Stephanie Grant, Group Administrator

Stephanie Grant (B.B.A., General Management, University of New Mexico) is the Administrator for the IPP's Visiting Research Scholars Program in cooperation with Sandia National Laboratories' Cooperative Monitoring Center

 

Faith Brandt, Outreach Coordinator

Faith Brandt is the Outreach Coordinator for the IPP's Visiting Research Scholars Program in cooperation with Sandia National Laboratories' Cooperative Monitoring Center.  She is currently a UNM Student majoring in Fine Arts 


 

 

Institutional Affiliations

The IPP has developed research relationships with a variety of organizations and  departments throughout the University of New Mexico.  Formal relationships have also been developed with a variety of other institutions, including Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory, the University of Rochester, Texas A&M University and the Bush School of Government and Public Service, and RONIN Corporation.
