Native Peoples
and Tropical Conservation homepage

Native Peoples
and Tropical Conservation is a foundation located at the University of New
Mexico created to provide help to indigenous South American groups who are
exploring methods of sustainable resource use for economic development. We work
directly with native communities and conservation organizations in order to
integrate concern for indigenous human rights and community development with
environmental concerns and interest in biodiversity conservation. We are a tax
free non-profit organization with two co-directors, Ana Magdalena
Hurtado and Kim Hill, both professors of anthropology at the Univ. of New
Mexico.
We have no overhead and no administrative costs, all donations go directly to community programs with South American indigenous groups. Currently we are working with Ache and Guarani communities of Paraguay on health and sustainable economic development projects. More information will be available about these projects on this website soon. You can communicate with us at kimhill2@unm.edu
