Teaching in the Middle and Senior High School
Course Description: This course is designed to provide
a forum
for discussion of student teaching goals, problems and experiences. Students should gather information
relevant to
student teaching at either the elementary or secondary level.
Students who have special needs that may affect their ability
to benefit from their educational experience are asked to disclose
those needs to me as early as possible so I can arrange appropriate
accommodation.
Methods
of Instruction: Class
discussions, individual research, guest speakers, field trips. Please keep cell phones and beepers
turned
off during seminar.

Philosophy of Teaching Art (25%)
Teaching Portfolio (25%): This is a collection of learning plans
that
you prepare for your student teaching experience to be kept in a
three-ring
binder that is due towards the end of the semester.
Also include your resume, philosophy of teaching art, images of
your
studentsÍ artwork and images of your artwork.
Attendance (25%): Class
attendance and punctuality at each seminar are mandatory.
More than two absences will lower your grade.
You are required to make up all absences in APS schools.
All absences must be reported to the Art Education Program by
calling 277-4112 (leave a message), your Supervisor, and your
cooperating teacher.
