The Department of Linguistics at The University of New Mexico announces a tenure track position for Assistant Professor to begin August 18, 2008, pending budgetary capability.

Minimum requirements: Ph.D. in Linguistics. Evidence of research and teaching interest in Navajo linguistics.

Desirable qualifications: Native or near-native fluency in Navajo; documented experience in teaching Navajo and in Navajo language program development; demonstrated experience developing partnership programs with Navajo educational institutions.

Deadline for receipt of application for best consideration is June 2, 2008. Submit a signed letter of application referencing JR 6451; curriculum vitae; names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of at least three references; and at least three writing samples. Writing samples should include such things as articles, book chapters, and books. Send all materials to:
