The second annual meeting of the Southwest Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy will be held 24-25 February 2007 at the University of California, San Diego. Following the model of similar seminars around the U.S. and Canada, the Southwest Seminar was formed to foster interaction among scholars who work on various topics in the history of early modern philosophy (a period ranging, roughly, from Montaigne to Kant).
We are pleased to announce our program for the second annual meeting of the Southwest Seminar.

We have secured a special rate for conference participants at the Del Mar Inn, located roughly 30 minutes from the San Diego Airport and roughly 15 minutes from the UCSD campus. The special rates are as follows: $99/night (+ tax) for Friday and Saturday and $79/night (+ tax) for Thursday and Sunday.
You must reserve your room before 31 January to be eligible for these rates. We recommend that you reserve your room even earlier than that (if possible), because there are a limited number of rooms in our block. To place your reservation, call 1-800-451-4515 and be sure to ask for "The Southwest Seminar Rate." Please be aware that if you place your reservation and then cancel, you will be charged for one night's stay.
The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the UCSD campus.
For those participants flying into southern California, the nearest airport to the UCSD campus is San Diego International Airport (SAN). Please contact one of the conference organizers if you are flying into the San Diego Airport for the conference. We may be able to arrange transportation for you. If we cannot, you can use one of the several shuttle services available at the airport to get to the conference hotel. For instance, Cloud 9 Shuttle offers a round-trip fare to and from the Del Mar Inn of $51 ($25.50 each way).
