Beowulf in the Secondary Schools

A one-day seminar in teaching Beowulf in the Secondary schools
led by:

Dr. Kevin Kiernan
Professor of English, University of Kentucky
Professor Kiernan is the author of two books on Beowulf-Beowulf and the Beowulf Manuscript and The Thorkelin Transcripts of Beowulf. He is (with Paul E. Szarmach) Academic Director of the British Library Project, "The Electronic Beowulf, as well as the editor of the electronic facsimile archive of Beowulf.

Dr. Helen Damico
Professor of English, The University of New Mexico
Professor Damico is Director of the Medieval Studies Program at UNM and the author of Beowulf's Wealhtheow and the Valkyrie Tradition. She is co-editor of New Readings on Women in Old English Literature and Heroic Poetry in the Anglo-Saxon Period, and editor of a forthcoming three-volume biographical work, Medieval Scholarship

Dr. Leslie A. Donovan
Adjunct Lecturer, University of New Mexico
Formerly Assistant Director of the Computer-Integrated Courses program for the University of Washington's English Department, Dr. Donovan is currently developing UNM's Computerized King Arthur project, a program designed to provide secondary school and college teachers with computerized materials for use in teaching Arthurian literature.
