Spring Lecture Series 2005
"Medieval Journeys: Five internationally distinguished experts delivered the seven lectures of “Medieval Journeys,” exploring the impact that cross-cultural encounters had upon individuals and society in the Middle Ages. Key topics and themes were the development of the medieval view of the world and man’s place within it; the great medieval pilgrim tours, particularly the “Camino de Santiago”; the origins of the crusading movement and the impact of the crusades on East-West relations; and new interpretations of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. As every year, the lectures were free and open to the public. |
