Assistant or Associate Professor
The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is accepting applications for Assistant or Associate Professor of Mathematics, a full-time position in a probationary status leading to a tenure decision. The position begins August 18, 2008.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 1,800 each semester.
Salary: Base salary range for nine-month faculty position is $40,000 to $44,000 for Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. Summer teaching is possible and optional with additional compensation. An excellent package of benefits is provided.
Summary of duties and responsibilities: Provide 15 credit hours of classroom instruction in mathematics, statistics and/or mathematics for teacher’s courses during each of fall and spring semesters. Responsibilities include maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting and maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, curriculum development, outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related to teaching field), departmental projects, and community service.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematics Education. Minimum of two years of documented excellence in teaching mathematics courses at a secondary and/or post-secondary institution. Documentation must be included in application materials.
Desired Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD (all but dissertation) in Mathematics or Mathematics Education; successful teaching of a wide range of mathematics, statistics and mathematics education courses at a post-secondary institution; experience working with diverse populations; commitment to and potential for service and professional development; involvement in mathematics professional organizations; ability to interact cordially and cooperatively with campus faculty, staff, students, administration and campus community; experience working with manipulatives, various calculators and other technology in the classroom.
