PPD People & Employment: Safety

The University of New Mexico and its Physical Plant Department are committed to:

  • providing a safe and healthy work and educational environment that is free from recognized hazards that could be responsible for injury or illness;
  • protecting the University’s assets; and
  • ensuring the University’s impact on the environment is positive.

Responsibility for safety must be assumed by every member of the University community, including the Physical Plant Staff. PPD’s policy is to ensure that all employees have equal and adequate access to policies and procedures which will, if followed, help to safeguard their welfare, and that of the faculty, staff, students, and visitors with whom they come in contact.

The Safety, Health, and Environmental Affairs manual is available to all employees at all times, at www.unm.edu/~sheaweb/sheamanual/default.htm Other safety information and safety personnel can be located on the SHEA web site at www.unm.edu/~sheaweb/

PPD managers are expected to review University Business Policy 6110 (Safety, Health, and Environmental Affairs) with their work groups on a regular basis. Link to the policy at www.unm.edu/~ubppm/ubppmanual/6110.htm
