American Studies Graduate Student Association Brown Bag Series

Fall 2008

Friday, October 10, 2008

12-1:30 PM

GERALD VIZENOR
Distinguished Professor of American Studies

The American Studies Graduate Student Association is proud to host a Brown Bag featuring Professor Gerald Vizenor who will discuss his two forthcoming texts: Father Meme, a novel and the anthology Survivance: Narratives of Native Presence.  Distinguished Professor of American Studies, Vizenor promises a unique forum as he will discuss the process of conceiving, editing and publishing his new works.

In advance of the American Studies Association panel discussion and reception honoring the publication of these texts on October 17, 2008, this Brown Bag event is crafted as a medium for students and faculty to engage Professor Vizenor about his current fiction and non-fiction publications.  For those interested in Professor Vizenor’s theory of Native survivance, literature, American Studies, narrative strategies and the textual production process, this will be an exceptional opportunity to engage the author.
