Instructors:
Kyoshi Purdue Kyoshi Gary Purdue is a Karate Master who holds an 8th degree black belt. He has enjoyed teaching Karate at the University of New Mexico for almost 30 years, as well as serving as advisor and highest-ranking official of the UNM Karate club. His understanding of Karate is well known throughout the USKA and Martial arts world. He has written a book titled, Beyond the Black Belt: The Secret of Advanced Karate Ranks. Aside from Karate, Kyoshi is a member of the International High IQ Society, and an ex-Sheriff deputy. Kyoshi offers his students freedom, friendship, and killer instinct.	Bily-Soke Javier Gonzalez-Soke is head instructor of the UNM Karate club and a 6th degree black belt. Originally from Panama, he is a UNM Alumni. He has been teaching at the UNM Karate club for about ten years, and has studied traditional Shotokan- as well as other forms of Karate- for thirty years. His commanding presence and unique style of teaching is well known throughout the USKA world and UNM. Above all else Soke loves teaching Karate and exploring how to maximize the body's potential. He is the change that he wants to see in his students and is a living example of Karate excellence. Bily-soke trains deadly Karate warriors while modeling honesty, integrity, and respect. Soke is now implementing a style he developed, Koryu-ryu the way of the tiger and dragon, incorporating the natural flow of the body as a unit and the natural element that complements it.
