Baccalaureate degree recipients who have a minimum scholarship index of 3.5 and who have earned a minimum of 60 hours in residence are awarded University Honors based on the next to last semester statistics. Designations of cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude are awarded to graduates who have scholarship indexes noted below. Honors recipients and designations are subject to change upon completion of final requirements (i.e., when final grades are posted).
Cum Laude 3.5-3.74
Magna Cum Laude 3.75-3.89
Summa Cum Laude 3.9-4.0 (and higher!)

Those with ‘Laudes' (i.e., honors) will be able to buy a ‘cherry and silver cord’ at the UNM Bookstore to wear with their academic cap and gown. They will also be recognized (usually asked to stand) at the University and COEHS ceremonies. Diplomas will also be printed with the laude honor. Transcripts will also cite the laude honor.
Congratulations to those of you who achieve this wonderful recognition!
