Michelle Shin
BA in International Relations; minor in American Studies, The Catholic University of Korea

Michelle started teaching at CELAC in the Spring 2012 semester. She is currently in her master's program in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies at the University of New Mexico with a concentration in TESOL. Michelle is bilingual in Korean and English. Having gone through a second language learning process herself, Michelle has always been interested in teaching language to others. Prior to working at CELAC, Michelle taught English as a foreign language in Korea for over three years. She also worked with different student groups in the US as an ESL teacher. Michelle loves to learn language as well as to teach it. She studied Chinese and Japanese when she was in college in Korea, and she is currently interested in learning Arabic and Spanish. When she moved to New Mexico in 2009, she encountered many people of diverse backgrounds, which has provided her with a love for New Mexico's cultural and linguistic diversity. In her spare time, Michelle likes to sing, cook, and read.
