Publishing giant Cahners Business Information generously has donated three quarter-page notices in Medical Design Technology Magazine, Surgical Products Magazine and Biomedical Products Magazine, an in-kind gift of $6,560. The gift will help raise awareness for the Timothy T. Fleming M.D. Endowed Professorship in Emergency Medicine by reaching more than 171,000 medical professionals and institutions nationwide. The ultimate goal of the endowment is to raise $250,000. With these funds, the endowed professorship will facilitate student instruction for physicians, nurses and emergency medical technicians on life-saving techniques in metropolitan, multi-cultural communities and rural areas. After earning his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978, Timothy T. Fleming joined the U.S. Public Health Service and served Hualapai and Havasupai Indian Nations in an isolated Arizona clinic. He went on to be an emergency care physician for 17 years, and was an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the University of New Mexico. Passionate about trauma medicine, Fleming was known for combining teachings and beliefs of spirituality in medicine. After his death in 1999 from a re-occurring malignancy, UNM's Department of Emergency Medicine established the endowment in Fleming's name. UNM
