Currently enrolled graduate students who wish to change from a degree level to another within the same discipline may do so using the Change of Degree Level (CDL) form. (Example:  MA-LING to PHD-LING.)  Students who wish to pursue a degree in another discipline must apply for admission to that degree program using the standard application procedure.  (Example:  MA-LING to PHD-HIST.)

The student completes Section I of the CDL form and submits to his/her graduate unit/department.

The graduate unit/department completes Section II of the CDL form, clearly indicating their decision.  After the form is signed it must be sent to the Office of Graduate Studies.
