Stipend

The Office of Graduate Studies 3% Scholars Award is an award that is tuition specific. This award does not convert to a cash award if the recipient's tuition is covered through other means.

Purpose

The purpose of the award is to provide financial support for New Mexico residents and to promote progress toward completion of the graduate degree.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominees must be residents of the State of New Mexico at the time of nomination and full-time degree-seeking graduate students in the nominating department during the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Although the fellowship is awarded primarily on the basis of academic merit, it is preferable that a nominee demonstrate financial need.
  • NOTE: It is the responsibility of the student to verify their residency status.
  • Nominating Procedures

    Each participating college determines its nominees based on the award amount allocated for the year. Graduate units should contact their college dean's office to determine nomination procedures within their college.

    Nomination Deadline

    Determined within colleges; check with the graduate unit.

    Award Procedures
    When colleges finalize the award decisions for their students, the names should be forwarded to the Unit Administrator, Office of Graduate Studies, Humanities Bldg 107, for eligibility verification and entry into the Financial Aid system.
