OneStop UNM Departments A-Z
1. Do I need to submit transcripts with my application for Non-Degree status?

No. You will, however, need to submit transcripts at the point at which you apply for degree status.

2. I was hoping to be admitted to a graduate program but I missed the application deadline. I want to go ahead and take a class though - am I in the right place?

Yes. Students can begin their graduate course work in Non-Degree status, and transfer those credits into a graduate program once admitted. However, it is crucial the students contact the graduate departments they are applying to, to verify exactly how many credits of Non-Degree course work will transfer, and to be certain they are taking appropriate (transferable) courses.

3. I've been told I need to take a few courses through the College of Education to keep my certification current or meet other job requirements, but I'm not trying to earn another degree - am I in the right place?

Yes. Teachers often earn additional credits in Non-Degree status. To verify you are taking the appropriate courses, contact an advisor in the College of Education.

4. What courses are offered by the Non-Degree college?

The Non-Degree College doesn't offer any courses. Rather, students who are admitted in Non-Degree status may register for credit courses chosen from the UNM Schedule of Classes.
