Daphne Tritle, administrative assistant III, division of Hematology/Oncology, is the 2002 recipient of the annual Susan Strickland Award in the Department of Internal Medicine. The award was established in 1984 to honor the memory of a former employee of the Department of Internal Medicine.

The award is an annual recognition of staff whose performance best combines professional excellence with loyalty and good humor, and whose presence contributes substantially to the department “esprit de corps.”

David Ackley, UNM Computer Science associate professor, was mentioned in the Dec. 22 issue of The Economist.

His ongoing research interests center on artificial life. Current research covers genetic algorithms and programming, distributed and social computing, robust self-aware systems and computer security.
