CSWR
exhibit celebrates Robb
The John
Donald Robb Musical Trust and the UNM General Librarys
Center for Southwest Research announce the opening of a new
exhibit, John Donald Robb: A Celebration of His Life and
Work.
The comprehensive
exhibit on the musical legacy of John Donald Robb (1892-1989),
dean of UNMs College of Fine Arts from 1942-1957, features
his work as collector of Hispanic, Native American and Southwestern
folk music, as well as his work as a composer, teacher, writer,
electronic music pioneer and cultural ambassador.
The recent
exhibit opening featured a concert performance with pianist
Tatiana Vetrinskaya, folk musician and artist Frank McCulloch,
John Robb, Jr. and others.
Marilyn
Fletcher, retired CSWR director and chair of the Robb trust,
curated the exhibit with assistance from Jim Moore, Albuquerque
Museum director. Now that the images have been scanned, they
can create a traveling exhibit to take to the composers
symposium next spring, Fletcher says.
The exhibit
will run through Dec. 20 in the Center for Southwest Research
exhibit area of Zimmerman Library.
