Bond
Issue C to benefit General Library
The UNM
General Library (UNMGL) stands to gain more than $900,000 if
New Mexico voters approve GO Bond Issue C in the November general
election.
We
can purchase serials or books or put the funds toward access
needs with software and hardware, said Jan Dodson Barnhart,
program manager, UNMGL.
Bond Issue
C is a vote for library books and educational resources for
public school libraries, public and community libraries as well
as publicly supported colleges and universities.
State,
county and higher education people have united to create guidelines
and a formula for allocation. The Commission on Higher Education
and New Mexico Consortium of Academic Libraries support the
bond issue, said Barnhart.
Passage
of the bond would greatly benefit UNMGL, said Fran Wilkinson,
deputy dean, UNMGL. For the last couple of years our acquisition
budget has been static. This money is critical to the library
to support both acquisitions and to prevent large scale serials
cancellations, she said.
