ABEC Web site lists resources

A new Web site, www.abec-web.org, has been collaboratively designed to help people concerned with education in New Mexico network.

The UNM College of Education and City of Albuquerque partnered with the Albuquerque Business Education Compact (ABEC) to create the site. ABEC is a collaborative partnership of business, education and government. Its mission is to facilitate and advocate for the achievement of a world-class education system.

“This is one way to learn about what others are doing and a means to network and hopefully maximize our impact and support,” says Michael DeWitte, deputy director of Corporate Outreach for Sandia National Laboratories, and ABEC chairman.

Information at the site includes:

  • Links to various educational groups
  • Opportunities for groups to list activities and professional development events
  • Gallery page with reports, articles and presentations on education topics and best practices
  • Resource wheel with groups and resources around particular areas i.e. financial aid, instructor/student resources, with links to those groups/resources
  • "Read to Me” page with resources for families to encourage reading to children
