International
symposium, festival set
The UNM
Office of International Programs and Studies celebrates International
Education Week, Nov. 18-22, with a symposium and international
festival.
The symposium
focuses on United States foreign policy since Sept. 11, 2001.
On Monday, Nov. 18, 4-6 p.m., Dane Smith Hall, rm. 120, Stephen
Zunes, political science professor at the University of San
Francisco, will present the keynote address, The U.S.
in the Middle East: Iraq, Terrorism and the Quest for Security.
Media and
U.S. foreign policy is the focus of a session on Tuesday, Nov.
19, from noon-2 p.m. The location is to be announced. On the
same day, the session, Trade and Aid, One Year After 9-11,
is scheduled in Dane Smith Hall, rm. 120, from 4-6 p.m.
The International
Festival is set for Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Johnson Centers
auxiliary gym and features food and entertainment. Also on Wednesday,
UNM will present the International Excellence Awards, 2:15 p.m.,
also in the gym.
On Thursday,
Nov. 21 from noon-2 p.m., is the session, U.S. Policy
Toward Latin America. Location to be announced. The
U.S. in the Middle East talk is from 4-6 p.m. in Dane
Smith Hall, rm. 120.
