Central
Region Science Olympiad set for Feb. 1 at UNM
More than
250 middle and high school students from Albuquerque and the
surrounding area will participate in the Central Region Science
Olympiad at UNM, Saturday, Feb. 1.
Registration
for the event begins at 7:30 a.m. at Dane Smith Hall with opening
ceremonies at 8 a.m. in Dane Smith Hall, rm. 125. A number of
competitions will follow throughout the day and the event will
conclude with an awards ceremony from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the
same location.
The Science
Olympiad is a competition for middle and high school students
that encourages interest and achievement in science. The event
is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Division of
Student Affairs. The UNM Self Reliance Foundation student fellows
will serve as competition coordinators and will also present
at the awards ceremony.
There are
Science Olympiad competitions in all 50 states.
