'Espiritu Flamenco' is theme for faculty/student dance concert

The Department of Theatre and Dance will present 'Espiritu Flamenco' for its annual faculty/student spring dance concert.
The concert features UNM's world-famous flamenco program with performances by Alma Flamenca, the UNM student flamenco ensemble; as well as Yjastros, the only flamenco repertory company in North America.

Both companies are under the direction of Festival Flamenco Internacional founder Eva Enciñias Sandoval’s children. Alma Flamenca is under the direction of Marisol Enciñias, adjunct faculty in the UNM Dance Program. Yjastros is under the direction of Joaquin Enciñias, who is also adjunct faculty. Several of the company members of Yjastros teach flamenco at UNM as well.

Performances will include choreographies by Alejandro Granados and Juana Amaya, who are among the most respected flamenco performers in the world.

The concert will be held at Rodey Theatre Feb. 21-22 at 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.; and Feb. 27-March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 general, $8 faculty/staff/seniors, $6 students/children. Tickets are available at the UNM Ticket Offices, 277-4569, at any tickets.com outlet—851-5050, or online at www.tickets.com.
