Comments
on the proposed policy statement 1030 “Gifts Made to the University”
and proposed changes to “Holidays” Policy 3405, and “Use of
University Vehicles” Policy 7780 should be sent to Vice President
Julie Weaks Gutierrez’s office, Scholes Hall, or via e-mail
to ubppm@unm.edu by April
4.
The proposed
drafts are available to UNM faculty and staff accessing the
UNM web page through UNM computers. The URL is http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm.
The proposed
policy statement 1030 “Gifts Made to the University” was developed
to support effective development and management of private support
and compliance with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations.
The policy statement is designed to ensure private support to
UNM is effectively managed in the University’s best interests;
prospective donors receive proper acknowledgement; and gift
reporting complies with all applicable regulations. The proposed
policy statement also addresses donor rights and information,
conflict of interest concerns, and fundraising programs.
Policy
3405 “Holidays” is being revised to address issues and questions
that arise with flexible and part-time schedules. Policy 7780
“Use of University Vehicles” was written in 1991 and is being
updated to address changes in the process for renting UNM vehicles;
the procedures for vehicles purchased by/or donated to University
departments; discuss the needs of branch campuses and off-site
locations; describe University standards for vehicle appearance,
identification, and use; and clarify licensing and training
requirements.
