Comment
sought on hiring policy
Vice President
Julie Weaks Gutierrez and the Executive Cabinet have asked faculty
and staff to carefully evaluate and comment on proposed changes
to Policy 3210 “Staff Recruitment and Hiring.”
The policy
will be streamlined and include an explanation of faculty and/or
staff appointments using alternative appointment procedures.
One of
the proposed changes to alternative appointment procedures includes
changing the maximum duration for short duration appointments
from three days to three months to allow departments to expedite
summer hires. This is especially critical to some summer contract
and grant programs, such as College of Education programs that
hire APS teachers for summer projects.
Comments
should be sent to Weaks Gutierrez’s office or via e-mail to
ubppm@unm.edu by April 21.
Proposed
drafts are available to UNM faculty and staff accessing the
UNM web page through UNM computers. The URL is http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm.
