Youberg
named UNM Project Link coordinator
Fred Youberg
has been named LINK Coordinating Team Lead effective May 1,
2003, UNM President F. Chris Garcia announced.
In his
new position, Youberg will provide oversight and coordination
of the implementation of Project LINK, previously referred to
as the Electronic Management Information Systems (EMIS) Project.
Project
LINK (Linking Information Networks and Knowledge) is UNMs
multi-year effort to replace its existing administrative legacy
systems with new, state-of-the-art, web-based applications.
When complete,
the project will have replaced and or integrated all the following
systems:
Finance
(Accounting, Purchasing and Accounts Payable, Budgeting, Capital
Asset Management, Non-students Accounts Receivable, Workflow
and Reporting.
Student
and Financial Aid (Recruitment, Admissions, Registration,
Financial Aid, Advisement, Scheduling, Grading, Housing and
Electronic Course Management).
Human
Resources/Payroll (Employment, Faculty Contracts, Employee
Records, Compensation, Benefits, Time/Leave Reporting, Payroll,
Training).
Advancement
(Alumni Relations and Development).
Its
a real honor to have been asked by the Executive Cabinet to
take on this responsibility, Youberg said. Im
sure there will be days when the obstacles look insurmountable,
but I have to remember that we have pulled together the best
and the brightest from all across the campus and its branches
to help make this project a success. One things for sure:
When we succeed, it will be because we pulled together and not
because of the efforts of any one person.
Youberg
has been with UNM for 25 years with a variety of responsibilities.
In 1997, he was asked to lead the Universitys EMIS Project
and to help introduce it to the UNM community.
In his
new position, Youberg will serve as the single point of contact
for the overall administrative responsibility and accountability
for the Project LINK Coordinating Team interacting with other
project administrators, managers and the Universitys Executive
Cabinet.
