Host families sought for visiting Russian children

Claire Nilsson, clinical social worker at the Children's Psychiatric Center and secretary treasurer of the non-profit goup Belarusian Children of Chernobyl, is seeking host families for Russian children who will be in Albuquerque July 8 through Aug. 16.

The group has organized local, six-week respites for children from Belarus since 1999.

“We are bringing 12 children this year. We look for host families in the Albuquerque area. This year we are still looking for homes for five children. Four are girls, ages 8-12, and one is a boy, age 11," said Nilsson who with her husband Jeff also have a role as host parents for two brothers.
