UNM Staff Picnic set for July 26

Explore the natural wonders of the Rio Grande Zoo with colleagues, family and friends at the 11th annual UNM Staff Picnic set for Saturday, July 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $2 and go on sale the week of July 7. Children under three are admitted free. Quantities are limited, so purchase tickets before July 23 at all UNM ticket outlets including the PIT, UNM Bookstore and cashier’s offices.

Variety is the spice of this year’s line-up. Fat City, a seasoned dance band with a wide range of instrumentation, all-you-can eat picnic buffet, Lobo Louie and Lobo Lucy, magic show and face painters are featured. And if the stars align, the zoo’s Western lowland gorilla, Asian elephant and giraffe families may show off their newest members.

Door prices include a one-year parking permit and gift certificates to Continuing Education classes and local restaurants.

Vegetarian burgers are available, but must be specified at the time of ticket purchase.

UNM Parking and Transportation will provide free shuttle service from the G lot to the zoo from 6-9 p.m.

The Staff Council Rewards and Recognition Committee and the Department of Human Resources sponsor the UNM Staff Picnic.
