Human Resources
New service center on Lomas designed to be one-stop shop

By Susan A. Carkeek, Associate Vice President/Director Human Resources

The UNM Department of Human Resources is pleased to announce the opening of the Human Resource Service Center. It is located in the Lobo Center on the corner of Lomas and University in the space formerly occupied by Alphagraphics.

The service center will serve as the gateway to Human Resources and is designed to be a convenient one-stop shop for the needs of applicants, retirees and current UNM employees.

The Human Resources Service Center has extended business hours and will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. weekdays. Staff will be available to provide one-on-one assistance with eJobs, the University’s new online application program. In addition to applicant services, the Service Center is designed to meet all the human resources needs of current University employees and retirees. The center’s staff can provide general advice and assistance on many human resources-related topics such as employment, benefits, compensation, retirement and career development. The phone number to the service center is 277-MyHR or 277-6947.

Employees will be moving into the service center the week of August 25-29. We will do our best to minimize any disruptions in service. Staff will be located at both 1717 Roma and the service center the week of the move to assist our clients. The service center will be fully functional and ready to serve all clients Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The only employees of Human Resources who will remain on main campus are the HR administrative staff and the employees of Human Resources consultant groups. The consultant groups serve the hiring officials of the various departments on main campus and their clients are divided as follows:

• Academic Affairs – This group handles all departments with organization codes that are 10000 & 60000. The primary contact for this group is Magdalena Vigil. Her phone number is 277-4993.

• Business and Finance – If your department organization code is in the 30000 range, you will contact this group. The primary contact for this group is Joyce McCarthy, who can be reached at 277-5387.

• Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, and the President’s Office - Organization codes that are in the 20000, 40000, & 00100 series will work with this consultant group. Tracy Hutton is the primary contact for this group and can be reached at 277-4992.

We will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Tours of the new service center will be provided as well as refreshments. We hope that you are able to attend. Additional information will be sent out in early September.
