The first sanctioned Democratic presidential debate will take place at UNM, in Popejoy Hall, Center for the Arts, on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m., announced Governor Bill Richardson recently.

The debate will be broadcast live on PBS (locally on KNME-TV 5), and on Univision.

Notably, this is the first bilingual Democratic primary debate in the party’s history and it is taking place in New Mexico.

The candidates are Carol Moseley Braun, Howard Dean, John Edwards, Dick Gephardt, Bob Graham, John Kerry, Dennis Kucinich, Joe Lieberman and Al Sharpton.
