Service
Center to host open house
Gonzales,
Ribble named associate directors
By Susan
A. Carkeek, Associate Vice President/ Director Human Resources
After many
months of planning, the new HR Service Center is now open. Approximately
30 of our 70 staff moved to the new building, located at 1728
Lomas Blvd. N.E. in the Lobo Center.
The following
functional areas are now located at the Service Center: Benefits,
Compensation, Employment, Recruitment, Retirees and Temporary
Services. The Main Campus Consultant Groups and administrative
staff remain located at 1717 Roma and HSC HR is still housed
on North Campus in HSSB.
There was
a bit of confusion during the move about where our customers
could find assistance. We did have a few problems with our phone
lines, but all of these issues are now resolved. We appreciate
everyones patience throughout this process. If you wish
to contact staff at the Service Center, you can call 277-MyHR
(277-6947). You can also check the staff listing on our Web
site (www.unm.edu/~hr) for email addresses and direct numbers
for all of our staff.
A great
deal of time and effort has gone into making HR a more client-centered
organization. All of our staff deserve to be commended for their
hard work. I would especially like to thank the leadership team
and formally recognize them in their new roles. Our department
now has two associate directors, Helen Gonzales and Lynn Ribble.
Gonzales
is formerly the manager of UNM Employee and Organizational Development.
She holds an MBA from California State University, Long Beach,
and has 22 years of experience in human resources and training.
She has been with UNM for the past ten years. In addition to
her responsibilities as associate director, Helen manages what
is now known as Client Services. Client Services is comprised
of EOD, Employee Relations and the Main Campus Consultant Groups.
Ribble
still manages compensation for the entire university but has
also been selected to oversee the Health Sciences Center HR
Office. Lynn has more than 25 years experience in human resources
in both the public and private sector. In addition to holding
a masters degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign,
she is certified as a compensation professional and senior professional
in human resources.
Both women
are experts in their field and possess strong leadership qualities.
Our department is fortunate to have them.
The final
member of our leadership team is Mimi Swanson. Swanson is now
manager of the HR Service Center. She has been an employee with
UNM for the past 22 years and received both her bachelors
and masters degree here. Swanson is very energetic and
committed to providing exceptional customer service. The Service
Center is in her very capable hands.
I hope
many of you plan to attend the HR Service Center open house,
Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This will give you
an opportunity to tour our new building and look behind the
scenes at HR in action. If you have questions, our staff will
be on hand to assist you.
Come by,
meet the staff, and have some refreshments. I look forward to
seeing you there.
