New workshops detail employment practices
By Susan Carkeek
As the laws and regulations that govern human resources become more complicated, sometimes it is difficult to know which employment practices are most appropriate. Many employees are concerned and have asked our department for help interpreting the different policies and procedures.
In response, the Department of Human Resources is pleased to announce “HR Presents,” a series of one-two hour workshops designed to provide UNM employees with detailed information about specific human resources issues.
Topics include hiring tips, independent contractor vs. employee status, performance management and developing a recruitment plan. We can tailor these presentations to meet the needs of your staff, managers within your department, your hiring officials, or a combination of all three.
An added benefit is that we present these workshops in your department at a time that you find most convenient.
HR Presents was developed in conjunction with many specialists within our department as well as experts from the UNM Office of Internal Audit, the UNM Office of Equal Opportunity, and UNM Contracts and Grants Accounting. Partnering with these experts will help us keep customers more informed about changes in the field, and about ways to be more efficient and possibly prevent unnecessary tasks.
The HR Presents series is the latest development in our continued efforts to improve services and make HR more customer-focused.
If you are interested in seeing a list of the workshops that we have available to present, visit the HR Web site at http://www.unm.edu/~hr/whatsnew/. To schedule a presentation or to request a topic not on our list, please contact your HR Consultant.
