Project LINK coordinator offers recognition, thanks

By Fred Youberg

Well, we “went live” with Banner Finance July 1 and although each day brings us new opportunities to practice our problem solving skills, we are doing quite well. As I observe the changes that Project LINK is bringing to UNM, I am truly amazed at the dedication and resiliency of our staff.

There are three groups of people that I would like to recognize and thank.

We have pulled functional and technical staff away from their regular duties, leaving their previous workgroups scrambling to deal with regular university business. To all the managers, supervisors and staff who managed to keep it together in spite of being short-staffed, the LINK management team says thank you!

Those of you who volunteered or were “kidnapped” to work on Project LINK have been key. Your lives have become one meeting after another, working on difficult issues, realizing that the entire university is depending on you and doing it all within 60 hours per week!

To each and every one of you, the university says thank you!

Then, there are the users of the new information systems. In large part, we have turned your worlds upside down. New training classes to take, new software to learn, new procedures, shifting responsibilities, things that aren’t working quite right and yet the daily work just keeps coming at you.

To the thousands of you who have taken the time to prepare yourselves for this change and who come to work every day committed to making it work, I personally say “THANK YOU!”
